March is finally around the corner, and, hopefully along with it, so is the warmer weather. With that said, you’ll be glad to know there’s a whole bunch of great things to do around the city that’ll help save those quids for impending summer plans.

From banging exhibitions all about 1990s club culture to something a little more wholesome over at Platt Fields Market Garden – here’s our rundown for the top five free things to do in Manchester this week…

Cuba Vida Salsa Band | Matt & Phreds | Tue 27 Feb | 8pm - 11pm

While Matt & Phred’s may be in Manchester’s Northern Quarter, the Cuba Vida Salsa Band is sure to get you feeling like you’re grooving out in Havana with their unique sound, inspired by all the best Latin, Jazz, Funk, Reggae-Ton and Salsa music.

Whether you kick back and bop your head or take to the dance floor and show the crowd what you got – this is a great little cheap and cheerful way to start the week off.

Overdrawn | Station South | Wed 28 Feb | 6.30pm - 8.30pm

Get yourself over to Levenshulme this Wednesday for Overdrawn – an event literally centred around drawing all over the tables.

Headed up by the celebrated artist, Pete Obsolete, this is a great chance to check out live art in action, pick up some pound portraits, have a tonne of creative fun with pals.

Farmers Market | Platt Fields Market Garden | Sun 3 Mar | 10am - 2pm

If you’re in need of a proper good injection of all things wholesome this Sunday then look no further than this fantastic little farmers market tucked away in the heart of Fallowfield.

Support local and have a stroll around the smattering of stalls – all of which will be providing lots of fresh produce, artisan offerings and drink products, street food, coffee, music, and good vibes all around.

Logical Song | Castlefield Gallery | Sun 3 Mar | 12pm - 5.30pm

Swing by the closing of the Logical Song, Rowland Hill’s first major solo exhibition this weekend to explore the aesthetics of 1990s Eurodance music, club culture and local fairgrounds.

Hill has transformed the gallery into an immersive installation, operating in the liminal space between an attraction and an exhibition. Visitors are invited to delve into the weird and wonderful spaces that move them from the private to the theatrical, taking them on a destabilising journey from a fantasised past to a darker, speculative future.
