Given the city’s vast and storied musical heritage, Record Store Day is always an exciting one for the calendar across Manchester. From street parties to live performances, take a look through some of the best festivities coming to town this Saturday.
Records and margs are on the cards down at Ramona, where the team will be kicking off their new monthly pop-up record store alongside good pals, Basement Wax.
There’ll be live DJ sets, day-to-night parties, guest sellers with tonnes of vinyl to sift through, and plenty of pizza to keep you fuelled for the day, naturally.
Along with all the shop’s usual sought-after special releases, Piccadilly Records has pulled together an impressive lineup of live DJs who’ll be providing a suitable soundtrack to your browsing throughout the day.
Hear sets from Thee Beth Taylor, A Certain Romance’s Martin Moscrop, Stu Richards, Suffragette City Co-Founder Abigail Ward (Ghost Assembly), Sno and Reform Radio resident Rhod Parry as you bag that hallowed release.
After last year’s success saw queues winding through Altrincham, Tasty Records are going even bigger this time out. The store will be opening from 8.15am, operating a strict one-in-one-out policy, ensuring everyone gets a fair look at what they’ve got in for the day.
Neighbours Bread Bin Bakery will be handing out free coffees to the queue, there’ll be live vinyl DJs in-store and afterwards, the team will be heading down the road to Bernies Canteen for tacos and turntables.
