With 1400 acres waiting to be explored, the National Trust’s Lyme Park offers several dedicated walking routes ranging from step-free, buggy-friendly strolls to adventurous hikes perfect for anyone after something a little more challenging.
Established some 600 years ago, guests can take a historic walk towards the Lantern, enjoy sprawling views of the Manchester skyline and make new friends at the deer sanctuary.
Step-free walks at Lyme Park
The step-free cage and deer sanctuary view walk features a linear path towards the East Lodge. The weather-proof route is designed for anyone wanting a flat, gentle walk, and is suitable for those travelling with prams or via bike.
A walk to the Lantern
A moderately challenging walk towards Lyme’s famous Lantern will reward you with glorious views as you make your way through lesser-visited areas of the park. You may also catch a glimpse of the area’s red deer, who often spend time in the east of the park.
Paddock cottage walk
This enjoyable, easy walk to Paddock Cottage, which also takes in Knightslow Wood, Pursfield Wood and Drinkwater Meadow, is filled with memorable vistas of the surrounding area on a clear day.
