January is a month for introspection, for quiet rumination on your life so far. It is also a time of prudence as you lull yourself in the false sense that, if you are clever with your money in the first month, the rest of the year will follow suit. To help you on this austere quest, the good people over at Kosmonaut will be offering a new series of monthly free gigs in their basement, starting this month. Isn’t that nice? For the first edition they will be introducing Stuttgart art-pop voyager Levin Goes Lightly (pictured) to the city of Manchester. An atmospheric, minimalist singer-songwriter, Levin has emerged from the locomotive past of the German city’s Nordbahnhof with his debut record Dizzy Heights. Support comes from the impossibly precocious rising star Leda and The Swan, the 18-year-old wunderkind who has been likened to David Thomas Broughton. 2014 is looking bright, and free.
