With an abundance of light shows and illuminated trails, as well as the chance to explore some of the North West’s most stunning locations, there’s plenty to do to lift your spirits. Get Stars in Your Eyes at Lightopia 2020

A Manchester Christmas classic, Lightopia will once again take over Heaton Park this festive season. The immersive light and lantern trail is always a visual spectacle, and this year promises to be no different, with new showcases and displays along with all your favourites from years past. Lightopia 2020 kicks off on Friday 20 November and will be around until Sunday 3 January.

Adventure Through the Lanterns at Chester Zoo

This Christmas, Chester Zoo will be transformed into a spectacular wonderland, and you can immerse yourself in eleven fantastical worlds featuring lanterns, costumed characters and Christmas scenes. You might also spot a couple of nocturnal creatures, as well as getting the chance to experience the underwater world in a whole new light — the event runs from Friday 13 November until Wednesday 23 December, so don’t miss out!

Wander Around the Wonders of Dunham Massey

Dunham Massey’s formal gardens and deer park will be lit up this year by a spectacular illuminated trail. Tree canopies will be adorned with festive colour, there will be a tunnel of light, an aerial kaleidoscope, and of course, giant glittering deer. The trial is open from Friday 20 November until Sunday 10 January – so you have plenty of time to visit!

Help out Holly the Hare at Tatton Park

Holly the Hare has been invited to a festive garden feast with Tatton Park’s other woodland friends — but she can’t find her invitation! This family trail through Tatton Park will see you solving puzzles to reveal plans for the party while experiencing the stunning winter gardens of the park itself. The event is running from the end of December until early January, and promises to be the perfect family activity this festive season.
