Free Vibes at Band on the Wall
Our first pick of free things to do in Manchester this weekend is this latest instalment of Band on the Wall’s free live music night Free Vibes. Taking to the famous stage on Friday night is Canadian band Gymnast, Manchester two-piece Vide0, London-based producer Ryd and progressive psych band Legs on Wheels. As always, the night is programmed and held together by Amazing Radio DJ Shell Zenner.

Last Chance to See Herstory at Touchstones Rochdale

Aquatopia Tour at CFCCA (pictured)
The Centre for Chinese Contemporary Art’s exhibition Aquatopia has been running since July, but this Saturday they’re offering the unique opportunity to take part in a guided tour led by a member of the gallery’s curatorial team. Aquatopia presents the work of six international artists reflecting on the subject of water, exploring what it means to communities and ecologies, and raising environmental concerns. This tour is free to attend, but a donation of £2.50 is requested.

Too Many Men at YES
New venue YES presents one of its very first club nights, and despite its name Too Many Men is a night dedicated to women. An all-woman roster of DJs present an all-woman playlist to lead you into the small hours of Sunday morning, covering everything from Siouxsie Sioux to Whitney Houston and every woman in-between. Savages drummer Fay Milton will be taking to the decks to play some of her favourite tunes, and bringing along a selection of guests to join her.

Native: Manchester and Turning the Page at PAPER Gallery
Weekend gallery PAPER launches its latest exhibitions this Saturday. Native: Manchester collects the work of international artists aiming to answer the question ‘Where are you from?’ and Turning the Page is the result of a year-long collaboration between Japanese collective Art Byte Critique and local artists.
